FRAMEBURST ACADEMY 15
SUMMARY
Your style is not something you need to force or decide right away. It develops naturally over time. One of the best ways to commence is by drawing freely from memory without overthinking. Your brain will combine influences from things you adore and slowly create your own style. If that does not work at first, there are other simple techniques you can try.
๐ฌ How To Find Your Own Style (Without Forcing It)
Alright… This is something a lot of you worry about.
“What’s my style?”
“How to come up with one?”
“How can I make it uniquely mine?”
“Why does my art look like everyone else’s?”
Let me tell you something honestly.
You do not find your style.
Your style… forms on its own.
๐ฏ Stop Trying To Force It:
Most beginners do this:
- Try to pick a style
- Try to copy a style perfectly
- try to “be unique” on purpose
And that usually makes things worse.
Because style is not something you choose.
It’s something that comes to you.
๐ง The Best Way to Start (Very Important):
Try this:
- Draw something from memory
- Do not look at reference, before it is created once
- Do not overthink
- Only let your hand flow, and just draw
- Let it be messy
- Let it be strange
- Let it be imperfect
- Let the anatomy be off
Because here’s what happens:
Your brain begins pulling ideas from:
- Things you have watched
- Art styles you love and like
- Animations, Anime and cartoons you have seen
- And it blends all of them
That mix?
That is the origin of your style.
๐ก Real Example (From Me):
Even my avatar for Takzicution Tales…
Was not something I planned perfectly.
It came from:
- Testing
- Drawing freely
- Experimenting
- Not overthinking too much
And over time…
It became what it is now.
Simple. Recognisable. Mine.
๐งฑ What If This Does Not Work For Me?
That’s okay.
Not everyone clicks with this technique immediately.
Here are a few other ways you can try:
โ๏ธ 1 – Style Mixing
Pick 2-3 styles you like.
Then try to combine them.
For instance:
One style for eyes
One for body
One for expressions
Do not copy exactly (that’s plagiarism).
Just take inspiration.
๐ย 2 – Simplify Everything
Take a drawing…
And try to make it simpler.
Remove details.
Reduce shapes.
Make it easier to remember and redraw
That simplification?
That often becomes your style.
๐ญ 3 – Exaggeration Practice
Take something normal…
And exaggerate it.
- Longer arms
- Bigger head and eyes
- Smaller body and legs
Push things a little.
That creates personality.
๐ง One Honest Truth:
Your first style…
Will not be your final style.
And that is completely okay.
Even now, I am still improving and adjusting mine.
Sometimes small changes make a huge difference.
That is how style evolves.
๐ฎ Your Current Level: ‘Just Starting’
Right now, your goal is not to have a perfect art style.
It is to:
- Test
- Experiment
- Explore
- Try different things
Your style will change over time.
Just see Jaiden Animations character and how it evolved over time.
Just imagine if they stopped after their first character design.
And so that is a good thing.
Your Next Step
Now that you have started developing your own art style…
Next, we are going to bring everything together:
- How to create your first simple animation.
- How to go from still drawings… to motion.
- And how to make your first small project
This is where things finally start moving.
Curious whatโs next? Click here and letโs figure it out together.
See you until the next relive. โจ๐ฌ
