FRAMEBURST ACADEMY 16
SUMMARY
Your first animation does not need to be complicated. In today’s lesson, you will create a simple animation using basic shapes and movement. The goal is not perfection, but understanding how movement works and actually finishing something.
🎬 Your First Animation (Let’s Finally Make Something Move)
This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for.
Up until now, we have been:
- Creating character
- Exploring your style
- Learning observation
- Practicing basic shapes
- Understanding animation
- Using reference the correct way
But now?
We at last make something move.
🎯 Do Not Over-complicate Your First Animation:
Let’s make something clear.
Your first animation should NOT be:
- A full story
- A long story
- A complex scene
That is how people get stuck.
Instead…
We go simple.
✏️ Your First Animation Idea:
Start with something like:
- A bouncing ball
- A pendulum swing
- Moving car or cloud
- Rotating Fan
- A blinking character
- A simple hand wave
- Simple Walk cycle
That’s it.
Small.
simple.
Doable
✏️ Step 1: Break It Into Moments
Let assume you are making a bouncing ball.
Because that is what everyone starts with.
Think of it like this:
- Ball at the top
- Ball falling
- Ball hitting the ground
- Ball going back up
These are your main moments.
🧠 Step 2: Think In Frames
Animation is just:
- One drawing
- Then another
- Then another
- Then another
Each one slightly different.
That’s how the movement happens.
Do not think of it as “animation”.
Think of it as:
Changing drawings step by step.
🎮 Step 3: Keep It Rough
Your drawings do not need to be clean.
They do not need to be perfect.
Just make sure:
-> You can see the movement
That’s your goal
⚠️ The Biggest Mistake Beginners Make:
They try to make it excellent.
They:
- Redraw again and again
- Fix small, tiny details
- Never finish
Don’t do that.
Finish first.
Improve later.
🎯Your Goal Right Now:
Not smoothness
Not perfection
Not quaility
Your goal is:
-> To complete your first animation
Even if it looks bad
Even if it feels weird
Finish it.
I cannot tell you, how many years I have wasted to make my animation look perfect
And how many things I wish to correct even now
But I forcefully skip improving it.
💡A Simple Challenge (Try This):
Today or tomorrow…
Make a 3 – 5 second animation.
That’s it.
Don’t extend it.
Do not complicate it.
Just finish it.
🧠 One Honest Truth:
Your first animation might look…
Not so awesome.
That’s normal.
Even now, when I attempt something new…
it does not always come out how I imagined.
But finishing it?
That is what matters.
Because every finished animation teaches you
Something.
🎮 Your Current Level: ‘Just Starting’
Right now, this is a huge step.
You are going from:
= Thinking -> Doing
That is where real progress begins.
Your Next Step
Now that you have made your first animation…
Next, we are going to improve it:
- What are frames and how they work
- How timing changes everything
- And why some animation feel smooth… and others do not
This is where you start understanding the science
Behind motion.
