How to Enjoy Animation And Avoid Burnout

FRAMEBURST ACADEMY 12

SUMMARY

Animation should not feel like pressure, tension, or stress, especially in the early stage. If you focus too much on perfection, speed, fame, or results, you’ll burn out quickly. The key is to enjoy the process, keep things simple, and allow yourself to learn without pressure. Enjoyment is what keeps you going long-term.

🎬 How To Actually Enjoy Animation (And Not Turn It Into Stress)

Like I always say.

Animation looks fun.

Watching it?

Fun.

Thinking about it?

Fun.

But when you actually start?

It can slowly turn into this:

  • “Why am I so slow?”
  • “Why is this so hard?”
  • “Why does mine look bad?”
  • “Why am I not uploading as many videos as I should?”

And before you even realize it…

something that felt exciting…

starts feeling like pressure.

🎯 The Problem Most Learners Face:

They try to:

  1. Be perfect too early
  2. Improve too fast
  3. Compare themselves to others
  4. Feel jealous of someone else’s achievements

And that combination?

It kills the fun.

🧠 What You Need To Understand:

At this stage…

You are not supposed to be good.

You are supposed to:

  1. Explore
  2. Make mistakes
  3. Try things that don’t work

That’s literally part of the process.

If everything looked perfect from the start…

There would be nothing to learn.

⚠️ The “Serious Too Early” Trap:

A lot of beginners do this:

“I’m going to become really good at animation.”

Sounds good.

But then they:

  • Overthink everything
  • Get frustrated quickly
  • Stop enjoying the process

Instead, try this:

-> “Let me just see what happens if I try this.”

That mindset keeps things light.

💡 Make It Fun (On Purpose)?

You do not have to follow strict rules right now.

Try things like:

  • exaggerating movements
  • making random funny animations
  • testing weird ideas

Not everything has to be “useful.”

Some things can just be fun.

🧠 One Honest Truth:

If you don’t enjoy animation…

You won’t stay consistent.

And if you don’t stay consistent…

You won’t improve.

So enjoyment is not optional.

It’s necessary.

And yeah…

Even now, I sometimes feel stuck or frustrated.

But when I go back to just having fun with it

Things feel easier again.

That’s something I’m still learning, as well.

🎮 Your Current Level: ‘Just Starting’

Right now, your only real goal is:

-> Enjoy making something move

Even if it is:

  • a rough drawing
  • a simple stick figure
  • a weird animation that doesn’t look right

If you enjoy it…

You’ll certainly come back.

And that’s what matters.

Your Next Step

Now that you understand how to enjoy the process…

Next, we are going to start building something important:

👉 How basic shapes can help you draw anything
👉 How simple forms can turn into characters, objects, and scenes
👉 And how animation becomes easier when you understand construction

This is where drawing starts becoming less scary.

See you until the next relive. ✨🎬

  1. This is such a solid breakdown 👏 Research is honestly the most underrated part of animation, and you explained it in a way that actually feels doable. Super helpful for beginners and creators who feel stuck before starting

    1. Thank you so much 🥹. That really means a lot to me, especially coming from you. I’m really glad it came across as helpful and doable — that was exactly the goal of these tutorials.
