Channel Names: Be You, Not Perfect

FRAMEBURST ACADEMY 5

SUMMARY:

Your channel name is not just a name. It’s your identity as a content creator. It does not need to be perfect, but it should feel like you and should not be something you will regret down the line. In this blog, we will talk about how to come up with a name, what actually matters, and why your identity is more important than trying to sound “cool” or “professional.”

🎬 Your Channel Name… And Your Identity As A Creator

Alright…

Now things are getting a little more real.

Up until now, we have been understanding animation, with the main focus being story-time animation on YouTube…

But this?

This is where it starts becoming yours.

🎯 Why Your Channel Name Even Matters?

Let’s clear something first.

Your channel name is not what makes you successful.

But…

It does become how people remember you.

Think about it.

When someone watches your content and likes it…

They do not say:

“Wow, nice animation dude.”

They say your channel/brand name.

So yeah… it matters.

But not in the way you think.

⚠️ Don’t Overthink It (Seriously):

This is where most people get stuck.

They spend:

  • Hours
  • Days
  • Weeks
  • sometimes months

just trying to find the “perfect” name.

Let me be honest…

This is very subjective; there is no perfect name.

Some people grow with:

  • Nicknames.
  • Weird names.
  • Random names.
  • even names that do not make sense at first.

And somehow…

It still works.

Why?

Because the personality behind the name is what people connect to.

🧠 SoHow Do You Pick One?

M

Instead of trying to sound “professional”…

Ask yourself:

  1. Does this feel like me?
  2. Would I be okay saying this name again and again?
  3. Would I love being called this after years and after decades?
  4. Does it match the kind of content I want to make?

That’s it.

It can be:

  • Your nickname, friends, and family gave you
  • Word combinations that you find intriguing
  • Name of your favourite things
  • Something random but fun
  • Something meaningful to you
  • Or even something simple

Don’t try to impress.

Just try to be the mostyou” you can be.

🎮 Your Current Level: ‘Just Starting’:

Right now, your goal is not to build a brand.

It is to start something.

Your name can evolve later.

Your style can evolve later.

Even your content can change later.

You do not need to worry about the drawbacks of changing the brand name

Because you are just starting, and you, at this time, do not have millions of followers.

Nothing is locked.

Honestly… even I’m still figuring some of this out.

So if your first name feels a bit off later?

You can change it.

No problem.

How Did I Find My Channel Name:

I bought a piece of chart paper.

I wrote down 100 names that came to my mind.

I did not care whether it sounded silly, whether it was bad, or what people were going to say.

My favourite things, fruit, compound words, combination of words, rhyme that sounded good, favourite cartoons, favourite toys, I wrote all of these down, filling one side of the chart paper.

I chose the 6 best, which sounded right to me. The names I would love to be called and is easy to say, as well as short.

I narrowed it down to 3 names that suited me, and those names I sent to my family, relatives, teachers, and friends, and asked them if they had to select, what they would like to call me.

💡 One Small Tip (That Helps A Lot):

Try not to copy someone else’s name style too closely.

Such as: do not just add animation or animations after your name, since lots of people have done that.

It might feel right at first…

But later in the long run, it can feel like you’re stuck in someone else’s identity.

And we do not want that.

Your Next Step

Now that you have an idea about your channel name…

Next, we are going to go a bit deeper into your channel identification:

  1. Do you need a logo?
  2. What about a slogan?
  3. And how do these things actually help (or not help)?

Because some of these things matter…

And some truthfully don’t as much as people believe.

See you until the next relive. ✨🎬

  1. I just wanted to share how much I appreciated your latest blog post on the timeline in Adobe Animate. The comprehensive breakdown of layers and their uses was incredibly insightful. The step-by-step approach made it easy to follow, even for someone like me who’s still getting the hang of the software.

Your detailed explanations on the different types of layers—like normal, mask, and guide layers—helped me understand how to organize my animations more effectively. I particularly found the sections on mask layers and their practical applications in animation quite illuminating. The tips on creating and managing layers and folders were also very practical and will undoubtedly improve my workflow.

The inclusion of practical examples and the summary at the beginning were particularly helpful in setting the stage for the rest of the post. I also appreciated the emphasis on the importance of locking layers to prevent accidental edits, which is something I’ve struggled with in the past.

Thank you for making complex concepts accessible and engaging. Your blog is a fantastic resource, and I look forward to more of your insightful tutorials to help take my animation skills to the next level.

What I find particularly impressive is your introduction, which immediately captivates the reader’s attention by addressing a common problem many face with types selection. By offering a solution in the form of ten unique and virtually unguessable animations, you provide immense value to your audience.

Furthermore, the inclusion of a surprise with more types adds an extra layer of excitement to the post, ensuring that readers are engaged until the very end of time. Your thoughtful gesture demonstrates a genuine desire to go above and beyond for your audience, which is truly commendable.
